Breeding Information
Blue Dream Shrimp are prolific breeders when kept in a stable and healthy environment. Females carry eggs under their abdomen, and within a few weeks, fully formed juvenile shrimp emerge. To protect young shrimp, provide plenty of dense plants like moss or hiding spots. Juveniles inherit the vibrant blue hues of their parents, helping your shrimp colony grow beautifully.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do Blue Dream Shrimp require specific lighting conditions?
A: Blue Dream Shrimp do not require special lighting. However, moderate lighting helps plants thrive and enhances their color against a dark substrate.
Q: How many Blue Dream Shrimp should I start with?
A: A group of 10-15 shrimp is recommended to establish a healthy, active colony. Larger groups encourage natural behaviors and breeding.
Q: Can Blue Dream Shrimp survive in a tank without plants?
A: While they can survive without plants, live plants offer hiding spots, food sources, and improved water quality, making them highly beneficial for shrimp.
Q: What’s the lifespan of Blue Dream Shrimp?
A: Blue Dream Shrimp typically live 1–2 years with proper care and stable water conditions.
Q: How often should I feed my Blue Dream Shrimp?
A: Feed small amounts 1–2 times per day. Avoid overfeeding as it can lead to water quality issues.
Q: How do I acclimate my shrimp when they arrive?
A: Gradually acclimate your shrimp to your tank by floating the bag in the tank for 30 minutes to equalize temperature. Then, slowly add small amounts of tank water to the bag over the course of 1–2 hours before releasing the shrimp.
Q: Do Blue Dream Shrimp eat algae?
A: Yes, Blue Dream Shrimp are excellent algae grazers and help maintain a clean tank, but they should also be provided with a balanced diet.
Q: What happens if I mix Blue Dream Shrimp with other Neocaridina species?
A: Mixing Blue Dream Shrimp with other Neocaridina varieties can result in interbreeding, which may dilute the vivid blue coloration over generations.

from 118 reviewsGreat color! Happy little shrimp! Drip acclimated and they all made it past their first week in the tank. So happy with them!
I also appreciate very much the customer service and individual attention to any issue. Very impressed. Waiting to buy again :-)
Shrimp arrived in great condition and were packed very well. They are all hard at working keeping the tank clean. They were a nice size and quality.
Excellent quality and we amazed at how they are shipped… and so well, after a few days I had 1 die… safe to say the other 4 are great after 2 weeks!
I’ve ordered some shrimps from here twice and they always come healthy and active! the shipping is fast as well and greatly packaged.
I got these little guys to do some of the clean up work in my tank. CSC delivered them promptly and they got right to work. And they fit tight in with the rest of the inhabitants so we're all happy.
I’m really enjoying these lil ones. 1 DOA , the others are hardy, healthy and very active. After acclimating slowly, they coloured up beautifully! As soon as I put them in my tank they began immediately foraging on the plants and made themselves at home. Packaging was undertaken with great care and concern for the shrimp’s comfort and safety during travel. Highly recommend CherryShrimpCanada!
I ordered these shrimp from Vancouver, and I live in Newfoundland! Thanks to our friends at Canada Post this package took over 2 weeks to deliver. Fortunately the shrimp were packed well and insulated with lots of water. All of my 20 shrimp survived the long journey and are now in their tank checking out their new hiding places. A couple of the ladies came in berried and there were even a couple little shrimplets in my tank this morning. Colouring on some of the shrimp was weak, but I figure that's the travel stress. Some of the darker coloured shrimp are gorgeous! Overall I am very pleased with my order and wouldn't hesitate to buy again.
I received 10+ shrimps are Alive after almost 5 or 8 days.
Well packaged, I would order again during summer.
I would highly reccomend buying from them they all were alive and healthy.the only issue was that it did not come to my door and canada post left it in my mail box so they were outside in the cold for about 6 hours. Would definitely order again
I ordered 5 of these little guys, they traveled all the way to Ontario. Arrived in excellent condition, heath seems great so far. Very active and fun to watch. Beautiful colours. I’d recommend buying your wee little shrimp friends from here. Good prices and service.
Thanks!
These shrimp are by far one of my favorites. They're colorful and quite active in my tank. Cherry Shrimp Canada is worth shopping at due to the quality of their products.
The shrimp are beautiful and striking in color. They arrived safe and sound.
Very beautiful shrimp and it was packed well but most of all it got here fast ! I was missing one on arrival but they said they will make it up on my next purchase!
These bad boys arrived real fast and I only had one DOA (the packaging was really good, I think the DOA was unrelated to it) - since then they've been thriving in my tank and had a ton of shrimplets who've now grown quite a bit. Absolutely love these dudes and their colours are phenomenal! Will definitely be picking up some more once the second generation grows a bit to make sure I don't recreate the lannister family tree in the tank haha
